From Bangkok to Chiang Mai

Mathias and Daniel First we would like to make a short recap of the last days in Thailand in English, to give everybody a chance to follow us on our travel through South-East-Asia.
We, that means Nina, Daniel and myself arrived on Sunday in Bangkok, on Tuesday my sister Ines joined us. We spent another two days exploring Bangkok's tourist sites, including the royal palace with its main attraction, the emerald buddha. When reading a bit about it, we discovered the buddha was discovered in Chiang Rai, stolen by Laotian invaders, recaptured and transported back to Bangkok where it is on display now. There and then we decided to name this part of our travel after this buddha-statue, because our tour will take us to almost the same stations.

Leaving Bangkok towards the north our first stop was Ayutthaya, the Thai capital of the 14th century. From there we back tracked Thai history to Sukhothai, the capital in the period before Ayutthaya.
A freezing cold night train took us from there to Chiang Mai the main city in northern Thailand. Here we enjoy our time with shopping, massage, Thai cooking classes and a bit of sightseeing.
