Amritsar

Daniel After Delhi I decided my next stop to be Amritsar, which is the international center of the Sikh religion.

After a 12 hour train ride(Aircondition and sleeper beds, quite comfortable) I reached the city and headed for the Golden Temple, the heart of the Sikh religion. It is a peaceful and quiet place, despite alotof visitors. A lot of people bath in the pools surrounding the temple and even sleep unther the marble galleries.

It is actually kind of creepy to go into the Sikh museum and see al thepictures of how Sikh were tortured, if you stand next to Security Guards armed with swords, spears, daggers and the like. (The traditional Sikh weapon is thesword, which every male sik carries on his body all the time.)

In the afternoon I went to the Pakistani-Indian Border to see the traditional borderclosing ceremony together with about 5000 Indian and about 20 foreign tourists. As you might see on the fotos we didn't see much of the ceremony, but had a lotof full body contact with the masses ofpeople pushing against us from all sides.
